Chang’an University Library is combined by libraries of Xi’an Highway Univeristy, Xi’an Engineering College, Northwestern Architectural Engineering College in April, 2000.

There are three libraries and a reading room locating in the four campus of Chang’an University with the gross area of 44.8 thousand m² and 4925 seats in total. Library has 7 departments and 2 positions: Office, Circulation and Reading Department, Acquisition and Catalogue Department, Information Department, Reference Consulting Department, System and Data Department, Security Department, Technical Department, Secretary for the Party Business and Head of Data Science. There are 116 staff in library include 62 regular staff and 54 non-regular workers.

Chang’an University library is rich in document information resources, diverse carriers and obvious professional characteristics. By the end of 2022, the library's collection of paper books totaled 3.523 million; It has purchased 77 database platforms such as CNKI, Wanfang Data Knowledge Service Platform, CSSCI, CSCD, SCI, SSCI, EI, ESI, InCites, JCR, CPCI, Science, Nature, and 139 sub-databases. We have established a multi-disciplinary document resource guarantee system for highways and bridges, construction machinery, automobile engineering, transportation, land and resources, geological engineering, geotechnical engineering, architectural engineering, environmental engineering, economics and management, and has distinct professional characteristics and expert technical consultation guarantee system, especially in the disciplines of highway transportation, land and resources and urban and rural construction.

Chang’an University library continuously improves its service level by improving service methods and means. While providing readers with convenient and fast bibliographic inquiry, literature borrowing and other traditional services, the library attaches great importance to the construction of characteristic collections and actively develops literature information resources. It has carried out various forms of information services such as data CD retrieval, professional database online retrieval, online information resource navigation, literature delivery, retrieval certification, subject service, information retrieval training and so on.

Based on key disciplines such as highway transportation, land resources and urban and rural construction, Chang 'an University Library will focus on improving the literature guarantee rate of information resources for teaching, scientific research, discipline construction and personnel training, wholeheartedly provide high-quality services for teaching and scientific research, and strengthen the construction of personnel and academic research. To provide various information services for regional economic and industrial scientific and technological development, and strive to become one of the important document information service centers in Shaanxi Province and Northwest China.
